1976

1976 is a Swedish music project built around a unique meeting between generations. At its heart are a collection of poems written by a 19-year-old in the late 1970s, rediscovered almost half a century later and brought to life through a modern, cinematic pop sound.

The story began with a forgotten blue folder filled with typewritten poems about life, love and existential uncertainty. The folder remained hidden for decades before being rediscovered by project founder Göran Stierna, who realised that the words still carried a surprising sense of relevance.

The project’s most distinctive element is the voice: Göran’s son, Rickard Stierna, performs his father’s poems, written when he was the same age as Rickard is today. Together with some of Halmstad’s finest musicians, they create a musical bridge between generations, combining contemporary Swedish pop with sophisticated jazz influences and a subtle sense of melancholy rooted in the Swedish west coast.
