GICKEN JOHANSSON
Gicken Johansson is a musician, composer, and producer from Halmstad, Sweden. Primarily a bassist, though also a multi-instrumentalist, he has been performing live and on recordings since the late 1980s, across a variety of genres such as jazz, blues, pop, rock, reggae, and progressive.
As a co-founder of several bands, Gicken has been involved in writing, arranging, and co-producing albums like Neighbours - Live at Gostas, Sounds of Eternity - Part One, Paintbox - Bright Gold and Red, The Night, and Jukeclock 500 - A Thousand More. He also co-produced Linnea Olsson’s albums Ah! and Breaking and Shaking and has contributed as a musician on recordings for artists including Emil Brandqvist, Per Gessle, Linnea Olsson, Per Thornberg, Lars-Åke Snus Svensson, Mariette, and Svante Karlsson.
During the pandemic, Gicken began composing and recording music for his solo album, crafting instrumental tracks specifically for the musicians he envisioned. Exploring a mix of traditional instruments with modern elements, he created ten compositions for his coming debut album; These Things Happen. Long-time collaborator and friend Magnus Helgesson co-produced and co-mixed the album, continuing a creative partnership that began in 1995.
